CGVista uploads a curated collection of map sources dedicated to space and cosmic environments — for visualization work that reaches beyond the atmosphere.
Space is the only environment with no reference point. There is no horizon, no ambient light, no atmospheric diffusion. Everything is either in direct light or in absolute darkness, with no gradual transition between the two. That extreme contrast — combined with the vast, featureless depth of the void — makes space one of the most technically demanding environments to render convincingly, and one of the most visually striking when it’s done right.
This collection covers the range of cosmic surface and environment maps most relevant to 3D production: deep space starfields at various densities and color temperatures, nebula formations, planetary surface textures, moon and asteroid terrain, and atmospheric planet renders for use as environment backdrops. Each map is produced at sufficient resolution to hold up in large-format renders and close-up environment detail work.
Space maps are formatted for use as both HDRI environment sources and direct geometry textures, depending on whether you’re building a scene set in orbit or texturing a planetary body directly.
Choose the void that fits the vision — and let the darkness do the rest.
